In 2023, Room to Read has made room for children to read, learn and grow. From establishing identity-affirming libraries to celebrating young women creating change, the transformation we’ve supported with your help has been truly inspiring. Lounny—an alumna of our program in Laos — is just one of the real life heroes now pursuing her dreams.

Despite progress, UNESCO's recent report reveals that 250 million children are missing from classrooms. Youth in historically low-income communities face significant barriers, leaving little or no room for their learning journey.
That’s why I am urgently asking you to make room for education in your philanthropic giving this holiday season. We don’t have time to lose because for every Lounny there are thousands of children in her community who are being denied their inherent right to learn. With your help, a brighter tomorrow awaits them.
By making a year-end donation to Room to Read, you ensure that all children have the room they need to create lasting change in their families and communities. There is no better investment that you can make and I can confidently say that Room to Read is making the impossible, possible through education. Capital is now our only limitation.
Your gift is in the best of hands with us. Just last month, our finance team was recognized as a Top 10 winner by OnCon Icon Awards; we were nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, for individuals and organizations playing a critical role in shaping the future of children’s literature; and were selected for HundrED’s Global Collection 2024, which recognizes the brightest education innovations from around the world.
